Join Our Anchor Board as a Resident Board Member
Are you an Anchor resident passionate about making a difference?
At Anchor, we’re dedicated to delivering exceptional housing and care services for older people. We’re looking for a current Anchor resident to join our Board, bringing their unique perspective to shape our strategic direction and ensure our residents’ voices are at the heart of key decisions.
About the Role
As a Board Member, you’ll play a vital role in:
- Shaping our future: Help set and monitor Anchor’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives to benefit our residents.
- Championing residents: Use your lived experience to ensure resident feedback drives key decisions.
- Ensuring excellence: Promote high-quality services, good governance, and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Leading with impact: Provide strategic leadership, assess risks, and support diversity and inclusion across all we do.
- Being an ambassador: Represent Anchor with stakeholders, visit our housing locations and care homes, and build our reputation.
You’ll work alongside a diverse and supportive Board, contributing to discussions, reviewing performance, and helping us deliver value for money. Comprehensive training, a thorough induction, and ongoing support will be provided to help you thrive in this role.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking an Anchor social housing or care home resident who brings:
- Lived experience: A deep understanding of the needs of older people in housing or care settings.
- Strategic vision: The ability to think broadly, make balanced decisions, and contribute to discussions with clarity and confidence.
- Communication skills: Comfortable reading and analysing reports, challenging constructively, and building consensus.
- Commitment to quality: Passion for delivering outstanding services, with an interest in social housing or care regulations.
- Ambassadorial flair: Able to represent Anchor confidently with residents, regulators, and stakeholders.
You don’t need to meet every criterion – we value the unique perspective you’ll bring as a resident. If you’re eager to learn and contribute, we’ll support you every step of the way.
Key Details
- Location: Most Board meetings are held in London or virtually, with at least two meetings per year outside London.
- Time Commitment: Approximately 2-3 days per month, including:
- Eight Board meetings per year, plus one strategic awayday.
- Quarterly site visits to housing locations or care homes.
- Serving on at least one committee (4-6 meetings per year).
- Time to prepare for meetings.
- Pay: £35,000 per annum, plus travel expenses.
- Term: Initial two-year term, with the possibility of reappointment.
