Handyperson – Thomas Henshaw Court
Location: Southport
Hours: 30 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday, on a two-week rolling rota
Are you practical, reliable, and take pride in keeping spaces safe and well maintained? Thomas Henshaw Court in Southport is looking for a dedicated Handyperson to join our team and help keep our home running smoothly.
Thomas Henshaw Court is a warm and welcoming residential care home where we support older people to live comfortably, independently, and with dignity. Our home provides a safe and pleasant environment, and your role will be essential in maintaining that standard for our residents and colleagues.
Your Role:
Reporting to the Location Manager, you’ll play a vital part in:
- Carrying out day-to-day minor maintenance and repair tasks across the building and gardens.
- Identifying when specialist support is needed for more complex repairs.
- Maintaining outdoor areas to a clean and presentable standard.
- Ensuring all tools and equipment are used safely and health and safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Supporting with fire safety, emergency procedures and health & safety checks as required.
What We’re Looking For:
- A range of practical skills, ideally with experience in maintenance, gardening, or building.
- An understanding of health & safety in the workplace.
- Awareness of safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection, particularly when working in a residential care setting.
- Ability to manage and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Friendly, respectful and professional in your approach, with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a wider team.
