The Housekeeper plays a vital role in creating a safe, comfortable, and homely environment for residents living with dementia. This position involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the home, including residents’ rooms, communal areas, and service spaces. The role requires sensitivity, patience, and an understanding of how to work respectfully around individuals who may be confused, distressed, or in need of reassurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain resident bedrooms, bathrooms, and communal areas to a high standard.
  • Manage laundry duties, including washing, drying, ironing, and distributing clothing and linens.
  • Follow infection-control procedures and health and safety guidelines.
  • Work around residents in a calm, reassuring manner, adapting to their needs and routines.
  • Report any concerns about residents’ wellbeing or the environment to senior staff.
  • Support the wider care team in creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Savile Park in Halifax is home to well trained and helpful staff with rooms for up to 55 residents. At Anchor, we pride ourselves in providing 24-hour care and specialised services for elderly people, the beauty of our grounds, the quality of our catering and our engaging activities we deliver. 

  • On our recent inspection by CQC we were rated overall as Good and we continue to work towards improving this
  • The Home is located within walking distance to the centre of Halifax with good transport links to local towns
  • The Home prides itself on being Dementia friendly and has made environment changes to reflect this
