Help Anchor to provide homes people will love living in during later life both now and in the future as one of our Sustainability Officers.
You will be working within a Sustainability Officer role framework as part of a team reporting to the Environment and Sustainability Manager.
As one of the largest nonprofit housing and care providers we are making our homes more energy efficient and designing new homes to Net Zero standards as well as supporting residents and colleagues to live well, adapting to climate change, reducing our environmental impact and improving our natural environment.
We’re looking for a Sustainability Officer to help turn these goals into reality. You’ll join our Property Sustainability Team and play a key role in delivering our sustainability strategy across our housing portfolio.
What does it mean to be a Sustainability Officer at Anchor?
- Support the development and implementation of Anchor’s Sustainability & Net Zero Carbon strategy 2027 – 2030.
- Communicate, engage and educate colleagues and residents about sustainability programs and initiatives, including coordinating colleague and resident forums.
- Support Sustainability projects that reduce energy use and environmental impact.
- Manage the collection and analysis of data on carbon performance, ESG goals, and retrofit programs.
- Develop and maintain robust data systems and methodologies for meeting and measuring social value, environmental and governance targets.
- Project manage the creation of our annual sustainability report.
- Support our retrofit strategy, helping improve energy performance and integrate updates into long term investment plans.
- Stay informed on new policies, best practice, and technologies in environmental sustainability and energy management.
- Collaborate across teams to gather qualitative and quantitative inputs, ensuring accuracy and narrative cohesion.
Who we’re looking for:
- Experience working in sustainability, energy management, or environmental programs.
- Proven experience in carbon data and reporting and emissions tracking.
- Knowledge of carbon reduction, environmental management, and energy efficiency (experience with housing or retrofit projects is desirable).
- Familiarity with ESG frameworks, standards, and regulatory landscapes.
- Strong project management skills.
- Analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Experience preparing grant applications and managing reporting requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and editorial judgment.
