About the role
As Category Manager, you will be responsible for developing and leading a category sourcing programme, managing strategic relationships with suppliers and markets, delivering cost savings to the organisation and providing expert guidance across a range of internal stakeholders.
The categories that sit under Business Services are IT, Legal, Recrutiment, Consultancy, Marketing, Advertising, Travel, Workwear, Insurance etc. You may have experience in these categories but this is not essential.
You will work with those internal stakeholders to ensure the category sourcing programme meets the requirements of the organisation in terms of service, cost and quality whilst ensuring compliance with the business governance and policy requirements and applying a risk based approach to deliver maximum commercial value.
You will need to develop, motivate and manage the Category Assistants across a diverse spend portfolio, in accordance with agreed strategies and processes to optimise Anchor’s procurement spend.
You will have significant and advanced procurement knowledge comprising of:
Advanced negotiation skills, knowledge of strategic sourcing methodologies, knowledge of supply chain theory, Contract Law and dispute resolution and statistical & data analysis skills.
You will be a Member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or appropriate professional institute or relevant experience with a Masters or degree level qualification plus senior specialist procurement knowledge and experience.
You will have Project Management qualifications (Prince 2 Practitioner desirable, or 5 years’ experience of complex project management) alongside Project Management ability; eg. Managing large complex projects, involving personnel from many disciplines/departments in client organisations and suppliers.
You will be a confident verbal and written communicator with excellent presentation skills; you will have the ability to negotiate and influence others and articulate complex issues to stakeholders. You will have the ability to build stakeholder relationships and have strong people management skills.
You will have a comprehensive range of IT skills (including sound knowledge of available software packages, e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and you will be proficient in the use of e-commerce tools, E-tendering, E-auctions.
